On 24th June 2023, Ambassador Kikuta Yutaka of Japan visited Matrisishu Miteri Hospital and the JPP’s Komagane Corner in Pokhara, further strengthening the relationship between Nepal and Japan. This visit highlighted the longstanding collaboration between the two countries, which began with support from the Japanese Embassy’s Grassroots Human Security Zero-Fund Cooperation (GGP) in 2011. Through this partnership, the hospital’s first-floor building was constructed, significantly enhancing its capacity to provide maternal and child healthcare to the local community.
Ambassador Kikuta was deeply touched by the ongoing efforts of Japan’s Maya Foundation, which has been sending handmade gifts such as knitted hats, socks, gloves, and toys to newborns at Matrisishu Miteri Hospital. These gifts, lovingly crafted by senior citizens in Japan, symbolize the compassion and connection between the two nations. Ambassador Kikuta expressed his joy and appreciation for this initiative, noting how it fosters a unique bond between the elderly contributors in Japan and the newborns in Nepal. His visit has inspired us with renewed energy and a commitment to continue working together for the well-being of our communities.
